My aim with this handbook is to help new drivers into work, by explaining the minefield of procedures and technology. This Book guides you the about LGV training which helps you to become a professional driver. This book is also an attempt to simplify the rules and regulations in a bid to try and keep a driver and his/her hard-won licence safe from harm. I am an LGV1 driver, still currently driving, with 18 years in the industry. I, therefore, have the requisite experience to write a handbook such as this. I understand the job very well and have made great efforts to import as much depth of knowledge as possible in order to help you to avoid making mistakes as you go forward with confidence into a new career.
This handbook is an insight into what to expect and what will be expected of you. “Forewarned is forearmed”. I have taken great pains to create a comprehensive, user friendly guide. This book should be accessible, whether you are just starting out in the industry, returning after an absence of leave, or simply wish to brush up on the ever-changing rules and regulations. For matters of ease, I have used articulated vehicle images to illustrate various procedures. Everything translates into all categories of vehicles i.e. LGV Class 1 (C+E), 2 (C), 3 (C1) and PSV’s.
